The strange galaxy NGC 1961 (Arp 184) is 190 million light years away and is located in the #constellation #Camelopardalis.

The #galaxy has a distorted shape - the structure of the spiral arms is disrupted. But here's the mystery: usually such changes occur after interaction with another galaxy. However, no other galaxies were found near #NGC1961 that could cause such distortions. If the second galaxy was recently absorbed by NGC 1961, then it would most likely have a double core - the remnant of this galaxy. But it was not possible to detect it either.
