I do believe the tiger slam refers to 4 consecutive majors, just not the 4 in the same cal year. recall a tiger interview where he goes - i thought a grand slam was just 4 in a row? technically not a grand slam. but a tiger slam

Bingo. A true grand slam is all in the same calendar year. Tiger held all titles at once, but the 2001 Masters was held at the same time as the 2000 US Open, Open Championship, and PGA Championship, hence, the Tiger Slam.
