Keep coming across contemplation of taste atm. A worthwhile read? What else do the essays cover?

Worthwhile. Essays: - 18th century origins of “taste” and parallels to current cultural moment - Friction as a counterforce to the commoditization of subcultures & identity - Camouflage - the rampant outsourcing of cultural analysis & critique - tumblr & the flattening of aughts indie scene for easy consumption

Thank you. All fascinating. Friction deserves more critical attention because we all know that’s what makes true luxury what it is. Difficulty to manufacture and/or acquire. And the idea that the taste/cool is rare follows suit. I’d enjoy the exploration of where that crops up otherwise, and it seems a great lever to use to stand apart. ‘Do things that don’t scale’ etc.
