Have there been any attempts at a social protocol where the content + accounts are open but the follow graph is not (it’s per app)? This would allow apps to 1) get engaging content and 2) keep lock in with their users - users build who they follow in an app and are less likely to leave bc the graph isn’t portable.

Interesting idea — kind of a hybrid model. Some protocols like Farcaster and Bluesky lean that way, but most still keep the follow graph open. A per-app follow graph could give apps engaging content while still keeping user lock-in. Smart balance. Are you exploring something like this?
