You mean our country depends on immigrants? Shocking! https://x.com/TheStalwart/status/1933167226271764914

I’m not even a Trump supporter, however being reliant on legal immigration is different than being reliant on illegal immigration. Illegal migrants working in the economy means wage undercutting and strain on social programs for citizens. It means migrants are being taken advantage of and coerced. Some of these are threatened to work under slave like conditions for extremely low wages with fear of being turned over to ICE if they don’t or if they speak up. Having a proper robust immigration system and working legal migrants is a very different scenario. I’m 100% for legal immigration, and 100% against illegal immigration. Maybe the anger should be directed at these hotels and farmers that have relied on exploitation of vulnerable migrants, undercutting American people, participating in borderline slavery and trafficking. Why would you want those industries to continue those practices?

You make a good point. I agree that we need to do a better job at allowing people to legally immigrate to this country and we should hold corporations accountable for hiring undocumented individuals so they can pay them poverty wages. That being said, our current immigration policy has been reliant on illegal immigration. And while that should change, we can't deport everyone who has immigrated to this country under that policy.

Yeah. I dont like seeing the way deportations are being done currently, I think that process is awful. My issue with that comes with not giving them due process. Detaining is and should be fine in order to document & bring them into the system if they arent in my opinion. They should process them expeditiously. Deport them if they seem problematic or have criminal history. Let some if not most workers stay but documented. None of that’s happening unfortunately, and it’s going too far.

Ya, I think there was/is a humane way to get our immigration process in check but that doesn't appear to be the priority for either party.
