Maison Bernard - a long-term architectural project on the French Riviera - is a striking example of organic design. Its construction took 14 years. Originally built for Pierre Bernard, whose name it carries, the villa was later acquired by Pierre Cardin in 1989. The shapes echo the surrounding natural landscape - bubbles, grottos, waves. Architect Antti Lovag believed that architecture should follow the soft, fluid forms of the human body rather than confine it within rigid rectangular boxes. That philosophy and the sensual feeling of the space itself was exactly what captivated Cardin: “These round forms remind me of the curves of a woman’s body... It’s very poetic. The Bubble Palace is like a woman’s body that I’m slowly discovering,” he once said. After purchasing the villa, Cardin transformed it into his personal stage for some of the most avant-garde events of the 1990s. To this day, the Palais Bulles continues to host fashion shows and artistic events - including Dior’s 2015 runway (fourth photo). Architect: Antti Lovag
