A crane operator once dragged me into an emergency.

I’m the field engineer. Installer. And the NOC guy.

One day during peak hours, the network suddenly failed over from the primary link to VSAT.

It wasn’t raining. All cables intact. But something felt off.

I looked outside…

The crane operator had accidentally broken the primary antenna 

Crew members were already complaining. Work was lagging.
But instead of panicking, I did what had to be done:

>Increased VSAT bandwidth
>Balanced the pressure
>Kept quiet about the antenna

See, on a vessel, the internet isn’t just for work.

Even the ones who don’t “need” it for work depend on it to stay sane.

I didn’t tell them what broke,I just fixed what mattered

A week later, I got a replacement antenna.
Did another survey. Reinstalled it in a better spot.

We were back to stable dual links.

The captain? He gave me a pack of juice 😂

Some days, you’re the NOC engineer.
Some days, you’re the silent savior.
