If reality continues to get stranger, which I assume it will...
Then practices for grounding oneself in the midst of change become useful, in order to re-orient and re-open to the reality that is now present and find it workable, and even enjoy it.
The impact of model-shattering cultural breakthrough and technological acceleration, makes extreme solid and fundamentalist belief systems seem like safety and security, but if your framework for reality is so dissonant with what is being asked of you by the raw materials of the present, that's a recipe for a freak out.
Nothing wrong with a good freak out, losing the plot can be useful in order to allow oneself to find a new (and more flexible) one.
Wisdom practices are like landing-gear made of reality itself for the vehicle that moves you across gulfs of change: Time.
