Clinical medicine/ research has a word for the state where two treatments have genuine uncertainty and are defensible: equipoise.
Not exactly a “we don’t know yet,” more of a specific condition where the evidence does not favor one option or surgery precisely.
Some topics are well editorialized but physicians/surgeons may not always voice it well.
