GREAT question. Currently I think chains will be broken down by use case, not apps. Farcaster enables seamless payments via USDC, but not on the same protocol they store casts with. Payments and storing lots of text documents are very different use cases with different technical needs. There’s not much reason for them to use the same protocol. That said I think the only thing EVM has going for it in the payments category is its momentum.
