I don’t want to speak up in the trench group because it can be viewed as FUD. I still sometimes do it, and when I look back at it — in most cases, I’m right. It’s easy to shill a thesis, but confronting it is viewed negatively. I think a lot of people choose not to speak up because of that. And when FUD does appear, it’s usually public and extreme.
