when people ask me about the difficulty of being a parent, I usually compare it to an alpine hike a lot of the time, you're pushing through exhaustion but then you get to a peak, the view is gorgeous, and you know it was always worth it had a moment like that last night with my son, who spontaneously decided he wanted to sit down and read all his trainer books 25 of these Scholastic books, simple stories, simple words we sat together for an hour, and he just read to me he was past his bedtime, and I told him to stop a few times because it was too late, but he was determined to get through the whole stack, and I mean, why not if he wants to push himself for something educational it's a moment you can't put a price tag on, this little human you spent so much time and energy trying to teach, and it's all paying off in front of you because they're reading you stories before bed instead of the other way around tl;dr kids are hard, but the experience is one of the best things in the world
