Kinda seems wrong to equate atheist and agnostic imo Atheists have decided something about life’s great mysteries. It is a concrete position Agnostics are the fence sitters who can’t commit

I don’t think anything above is untrue, however… The original cast I think makes a very good point in the sense that there is a social use for having a unified belief about the world/universe and an atheist is not positing a new belief but just negating specific ones that already exist. The idea is that there is a social benefit (and maybe necessity) in having new unifying belief if you’re going to say the old one is wrong Epistemologically, atheists could be correct but pragmatically they are failing

Disagree. It's fundamentally the same position on the more important axis, but just shifted up or down on the axis of epistemological hubris The key position is 'I do not subscribe to this one firmly-prescribed notion [that a judeo-christian, bearded, ripped, white haired god exists], despite its broad support' and then spiced up with certainty or doubt Which is not a radical matter in the grand scope of all possibilities, but it's a pretty culturally significant one in the context of actual reality Kind of reminds me of this cast https://farcaster.xyz/ryanfmason/0xad9062fd
