Who remembers PostSecret? This community art project was created in 2005. People were invited to anonymously mail in their secrets on a postcard. Readers saw themselves reflected in strangers’ confessions. These handwritten admissions countered the polished and performative sharing beginning to form on social media at the time.

Revisiting these, they read to me like social media posts now because (some) people treat online spaces as confessionals more. Even scrolling through the FC feed at times feels no different than what people might have said on PostSecret.
