I'm in shock at the added sugar in soft drinks in the USA. In Spain, a Sprite has 4.4 grams of sugar per 100 ml. Here, in NYC, I'm seeing 12 grams of sugar per 100 ml. If we compare two cans, they are almost the same size. In Spain, you ingest 13.3 grams, while in the USA, you get 38 grams.

 That's A LOT OF SUGAR!

Yeah dude. I wasn't kidding when in my own post earlier this week when I said the extent of American obesity and gluttony is insane and almost must be seen to be believed 

People are aware of the problem and seem to have also acquiesced to the idea that they are unable to control what they buy to eat and drink.  This is why an arguably very paternalist RFK JR is so popular. He promises to "Make America Healthy Again" via regulations that will force CPG cos to make healthier products

Unfortunately he hasn't really gone hard after any of these practices it's all show. Even new regulations against certain food colorings — hardly a true contributor to the level of illness the way the excess sugar is — was downgraded to a "recommendation" 

The companies themselves, partly due to observations like yours and partly due to pressures imposed by GLP1 drugs, are starting to self reform anyway 

All of this when you think hard about it is gets extremely uncomfortable re: idea of free will as we understand it

I have just googled it, and oh my goodness. 38 million people have diabetes, the high is almost the size of my country. It is wild!

Aren't people aware of this problem?
