This feeling of being a parent.

Sometimes it’s a random leaf on the street that triggers this thought of protecting him from anything that could fall from above. So you cover his head and hold him a little tighter on your walk.

Sometimes it’s a tiny hand banging on your chest at 6 in the morning because he’s up and wants to play.

You’re mashing potatoes for him and it hits you how he now has teeth. You miss how he looked without teeth. Makes you want to stop time, this unreal pace of growth.

At times you look at the mirror and you see him. At times you look at him and see yourself.

Friends come home with toys and gifts instead of alcohol. The vibe is different but a 100x more real and connected.
