pretty wide range of stuff, so far I've gotten
- a photo of a man holding a goose
- radio logs about police investigating a report of 4 people killing wild goose
- a facebook post from someone about there neighbors' daughter's friend
- a video of a woman being arrested in Canton, Ohio for killing a cat. the woman is not a Haitian, though many posts claim she is
- a guy claiming he watched a van getting pulled over with over 100 cats & "the Haitians" who "admitted they [were] eating them." police deny any such reports or incidents took place, no documentation
- anecdotal reports of haitian refugees doing other stuff people are upset about like leaving out trash, causing car accidents, receiving welfare benefits, not speaking english, taking jobs, driving up rents
- a handful of videos of individuals cooking or eating what appear to be cats, unrelated to springfield, oh
- many random claims about Haitians, Haitian culture, voodoo, IQ, what they eat, how they feel about pets 1 reply

two things: the photo of the man walking in the street holding a goose is from Columbus, and there isn't any evidence he is haitian, or that he ate the goose.
re: video interviewing residents. I watched that. I don't think every person in that video was a racist. A couple of them were, openly, one old guy especially. the whole town wasn't interviewed, maybe 10 people were.
mostly my take away was these communities are in crisis, people in the video mentioned the following real issues:
- unemployment
- addiction
- being homeless, lack of housing, high rents
- car accidents
- access to welfare benefits
- failure of public services (trash collection)
I've lived in Ohio, I have a lot of friends from places like Springfield. Our political establishment offers *nothing*, they choose between reactionary ragebait and neolib condescension.
Imo they share interests & problems with their refugee neighbors 100x more than they do with the politicians using this story from either party 0 reply
