14 years and 2 hours ago I gave birth to kid#2. At home. Without a midwife. Best birth experience ever.
How it happened:
- I have super quick birth process: 2 hours and baby is there
- Our address wasn’t yet in google maps as it was a new development area
- midwife was only 15 minutes away (in the hospital assisting at another birth). Her colleague, who wasn’t working, had the notes for how to get to us
Home births in the Netherlands are common. 1/3 of kids are born at home. But only if the midwife agrees to it. Kid#1 and Kid#3 were born in the hospital for safety reason.
