A student is researching workplace abuse. Difficult to guide as she's experienced it (she's +40y). One of the learnings is that's heard to pinpoint (& it's not illegal to be a jerk). If you can't pinpoint it = ppl don't speak up. A list of stuff that your boss/peer shouldn't do. Plz add - yell - throw objects at you

You gotta learn how to document. At least in the US the burden is on the victim - keep a journal, document date/time of every transgression, and who witnessed it; have to show a history of this - know when you can and cannot record meetings e.g. single party vs both party consent - go to the doctor and report 🧵

Isn't this fucked up? You're already dealing with being bullied at work, most prob struggling with focus, stressed at home, and now you have to double your admin work

Oh absolutely this was my first year teaching and I knew nothing. I was suffering in silence. Before I came, a teacher committed suicide. I talked the union & they were like year a lot of people are on meds to cope. F-unions! Next time, private council. My colleagues after i left got private council & it got resolved
