I gave Claude a link-safety tool and set it to "always allow." It never ran on its own. "Always allow" only removes the approval click. Whether to call the tool is still the model's choice. The fix was a hook that checks every link I paste and hands Claude the verdict before it reads my message. linkcheck is now open source: github.com/kazani-351/linkcheck-mcp
