🌦 Disable your cloud backups if you don't know how they are managed.
Many encrypted messaging apps allow you to save backups. However, even if the messaging app is encrypted, the backup itself may not be, making it an attractive target for attackers. A common example of this is with WhatsApp, where backups are enabled by default without users realizing it.
If you create any backups, remember to ensure that they are as secure as the main app/system/device and, of course, enable encryption for the backup.
