Some habits survive because nobody remembers choosing them. A family avoids difficult conversations. The children learn to avoid them too. Years later, everyone calls it "just how we are." We inherit more than possessions. We inherit unfinished patterns. And sometimes we perpetuate them simply because they feel familiar enough to mistake for normal. Breaking a pattern can feel strangely disloyal at first. Then you realize you're giving the next person a different inheritance.
