This is such a good graphic novel. I’m biased in that I’m named after my great grandfather, who was a Jew on the Lower East Side with unsavory connections to Yiddish-speaking gangsters. So I’m drawn to stories from that era. What makes this unique is that it’s written and illustrated by Frenchmen, and translated back to English. We have plenty of media by New Yorkers about Paris, I seldom see the other way around. This is a sad story about love, jealousy and the futility of chasing the unattainable. Worth reading if you can find a copy.
