Oftentimes it feels like the technological leaps of our age are solutions in search of problems, mostly designed to undercut the working man on behalf of the monied class or harvest more precious attention for profit. Then you see stuff like this.

I am always interested in these stories because I have a genetic mutation that threatens me on a longer time horizon, and despite the positivity from stories like this I also do not believe any solution like this will ever be within my reach unless I become a billionaire

While its easiest to give into nihilism, its almost always the wrong response. We live in the best time ever for humanity and its getting better. So happy this little guy is doing well!

CRISPR is an amazing biotech. I attended a presentation by Dr. Doudna here in Berkeley detailing her invention in 2019(?). Last week, I saw a report of a woman whose cancer was cured by editing, growing, and injecting the messenger part that identifies a cancer cell so white blood cells can kill them. Amazing 🤩
