Apple is considering relying on AI technologies from OpenAI or Anthropic PBC to power a new version of Siri. Apple has held talks with both companies to use their LLM models. This news suggests that Apple is abandoning the development of its own AI models. This may be due to the lack of time and the current intense competition among smartphone manufacturers to provide the best possible AI technologies in their phones. Apple has belatedly realized that the Apple brand alone will not be sufficient to compete in the age of artificial intelligence.
