this is a pretty interesting thread from the a’s brent rooker in response to a sports writer saying baseball needs a free agent deadline. fans expect instant gratification and more “action” to speculate on teams earlier and earlier in the off-season. a free agent deadline would likely help fans, but significantly decreases player leverage which is already pretty small. one of the few levers players have is to wait out the market as teams lose out on other free agents, suffer injuries, or get more desperate to make an impact move. https://x.com/brent_rooker25/status/2009088610172350610?s=46&t=dGdml54Bn5gAjlxSoZTivg
