skubal filed for a record breaking $32m salary. vlad jr currently holds the record for winning arbitration for $19.9m in 2024. ohtani settled with the angels for $30m in 2023 and soto settled with the yankees for $31m in 2024.
for pitchers, david price set the arbitration record in 2015 for $19.75m.
if the tigers and skubal don’t settle and head to arbitration, this probably spells the end of skubals time in detroit.
if the tigers win, $19m for skubal is an extremely good price and makes him a great trade asset. if skubal wins, he will be traded since his $32m salary will be ~20% of the tigers team salary
