i think this trade is really working out for both sides so far
- padres got one of the most dominant pitchers in the league (and best closer)
- a’s got one of the most promising talents at a cornerstone position
at 19, de vries is playing and crushing much older competition (avg age in aa is 24) and this likely puts him on pace to debut this year or at the latest next year when he’s only 20
for some context, some players like mickey mantle, ken griffey jr, mike trout, bryce harper, and juan soto debuted at 19
the expected #1 overall pick in this years draft, rock cholowsky is already 21
