there’s lots of talk about how preller trades prospects (de vries, wood, abrams, fried, gore) and rightfully so, but people aren’t talking about the prospects he’s kept. tatis, merrill, morejon, suarez, and cronenworth are all home grown talent that preller held onto. would the padres be better off with wood, abrams, fried, and gore? yes, but that would come at the cost of making the playoffs.
