We’ve shipped the first three roc.camera devices from /faust 
and more start going out today 🪨 🎉 

Back in Oct 2024 we set a north star: build a camera that captures verifiably real moments for humans in the age of AI

And so here is our raw v1: 80% now, working on the last 20% -- excited to start testing that hypothesis today

We’ve been beta testing with a few folks the past few weeks and ironing out bugs / issues. Big thanks to the folks that have been willing testers (@7858.eth, @nicholas and @austink)

but any camera takes real photos in the age of AI

To you it is real @toffix - obviously this is the case. But how do you prove to someone you’ve never met or built trust with that a photo is real on the internet? 

That’s where this comes in - use keys to sign the sensor data of the camera and so that anyone can verify for themselves that the photo only could have been taken by this camera

A more positive way to look at is ill see some one doing something amazing and my first thought is what if it’s AI - and now I don’t know for sure so I dismiss it - I want to live in a world where I feel that magic that I can connect with people over space and time and I think we do this more than ever of merging the old and the new

Imagine a future where you can deepfake even live video

One day you get a phone call, it’s your FaceTime from your family member (you’re sure of this) and they tell you they are in a dire situation where they need help - of course you’d help 

But what if that’s the start of a phishing attack? I mean this reality is not far off

It's interesting. Perhaps my brain still can't accept this reality where AI photos are indistinguishable from real photos. So thank you for taking care of this problem in advance, while it may not be as global as it will be in the future
