(1965) NERVA program was pretty cool. It's still a good idea, that's probably worth revisiting at some point 
- Thrust: ~55k lbf
- Isp: ~840 (vacuum)
- Propellant: CH4, LOX

Just for reference, Starship + Superheavy (Raptor engines) are
- Thrust: ~500K lbf
- Isp ~380 (vacuum)
- Propellant: LH2 

But look at that Isp! That's propellant mass thats almost half (2x plus the Isp of Raptor engines) for a delta-v - program originally looked into using it as a space tug. High delta-v missions, beyond orbit, probs

i’m trying to find the people working on it. slowly getting traction with jpl people. 
learning more about radioisotope thermoelectric generators atm.
