(1965) NERVA program was pretty cool. It's still a good idea, that's probably worth revisiting at some point - Thrust: ~55k lbf - Isp: ~840 (vacuum) - Propellant: CH4, LOX Just for reference, Starship + Superheavy (Raptor engines) are - Thrust: ~500K lbf - Isp ~380 (vacuum) - Propellant: LH2 But look at that Isp! That's propellant mass thats almost half (2x plus the Isp of Raptor engines) for a delta-v - program originally looked into using it as a space tug. High delta-v missions, beyond orbit, probs

i’m trying to find the people working on it. slowly getting traction with jpl people. learning more about radioisotope thermoelectric generators atm. let me know if you know anyone on these two things.
