@july the other question I got asked is whether it would be possible in the future to retrofit existing devices to make them capture verifiably real photos?

Photographers who have spent thousands and thousands on cameras wanted to know the possibility or if needs to be built in from scratch

We get this question a lot. Here's what I think:  it's highly unlikely that  we are going to build hardware to retrofit existing devices.

That being said, the reason is because I think many future devices in the long run will have this, and what we're planning to do is start building a standard that builds on top of C2PA to standardize how these verifiable real images are made in the form of real JPEGs, we're planning to call them RJPEG. 

I think it's going to be longer-term option for a lot of devices to have this out of the box. A lot of the newer cameras and even things and sensors be on cameras as well.
