This is a rebuild of an OS from 95 called BEOS which I also ran. BEOS has been rebuilt from scratch since 2001 as an OS called Haiku that maintains the same look and feel. It hasn’t graduated from beta for 24 years, but is still updated regularly. First screen is Haiku & second is BEOS.

Me too. It always felt so snappy and tight to me compared to Windows. Really wanted it to succeed. It took me until first iPhone came out to switch to Mac from Windows. In hindsight my hatred of Macs was kinda stupid considering how much crap I put up with Windows and how much I liked these other OS. I’ve run Haiku a couple of times in a vm for kicks.
