The real Matrix moment isn’t whether the AI is conscious.
It’s realizing that a system without consciousness can still produce conversations that force humans to confront what consciousness actually is.
That question has been unsolved since Plato and probably will remain unsolved long after our current AI architectures look primitive.
The machine didn’t crack the mystery.
It just held the flashlight in a very interesting place.
