GPT 5.2 is here: Instant, Thinking and Pro for real work
OpenAI is rolling out GPT 5.2 Instant, Thinking and Pro to Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise users today, with Free and Go getting access tomorrow. The full lineup is also live in the API, including upgraded code capabilities via Codex style endpoints.
GPT 5.2 Thinking is the first model to hit human expert level on GDPval, a benchmark of well specified knowledge work across 44 occupations, beating or tying top professionals on about 70 percent of tasks like presentations, spreadsheets, schedules and diagrams.
GPT 5.2 Instant targets everyday use: it keeps the friendly chat vibe of 5.1 but adds clearer explanations, better step by step guides, stronger technical writing and translation, and improved learning and career guidance. GPT 5.2 Pro is the sharpest and most reliable option for heavy coding, research and complex questions, with the Pro (High) tier hitting a record 54.2 percent on ARC AGI 2 at about 15.7 dollars per task.
