Something I find really interesting about friendships these days is the lack of communication. It feels like no one is putting in real effort anymore, and when you bring it up, the response is usually, "I was going through a lot." And while that may be true, my honest question is, "how am I supposed to know that if you don’t say anything?"

Speaking from experience, I’ve distanced myself from a friend during a depressive episode, so I do understand how overwhelming emotions can make you unintentionally neglect people. But still, you can’t be shocked if that same energy is thrown back at you.
