Yeah because of these loopholes they’re not as effective or fast.  They work, but not as quickly as we would like.
Western bureaucracy simply can’t keep up with the shady dealings of countries trying to bypass it. They need to expand control and monitoring. But I agree, Putin doesn’t care about a slow decline or the long-term consequences… He’s only concerned with today. So, in that respect, yes something more effective is needed . Therefore, aside from those measures, the best sanctions are weapons and long-range missiles.

Being a devil’s advocate here: sanctions work as long as no other parties (pointing at India and China) try to get around them. They would abide by sanctions initially until they find some loophole not to.

Or other group helping to facilitate those loopholes (Kazakhstan, Kirgiztan, maybe Turkey/UAE as well).
