This summer, the number of Russian military personnel killed and wounded in the war against Ukraine will surpass one million (killed/wounded), according to estimates by the authoritative Washington-based Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). CSIS notes that this figure will mark a “staggering and horrifying milestone” for Russia. It is five times higher than the total number of Russian and Soviet casualties in all wars since World War II.
