No Shadow Left

When I left home, I didn’t know I was leaving home. Didn’t know that the boarding gate was a coffin with velvet-lined hopes and dreams tucked in, like lies.

If I had known, I wouldn’t have flown. Wouldn’t have carried my mother’s dreams like overstuffed luggage only to lose them in a city that doesn't speak her name.
