DAI’s collateral is now 65% USDC, reviving centralization concerns. The reliance on a centralized stablecoin undermines MakerDAO’s decentralization ethos. Solutions include RWA caps, vault incentives for crypto-native collateral, or a dual-currency model. But trade-offs remain: stability vs autonomy. The paradox persists unless endogenous yield-bearing collateral becomes dominant without compromising peg reliability.
