I have 3 core beliefs about News in 2024: - Most people can’t tell the difference between an opinion piece and a news piece. Publications need to make the difference clear.

I'd take the other side of 1 and 2. 1: Separating opinion and news was a 20th century post-Lippmann phenomenon. People can't tell the difference because there is no difference in their heads. 2: The notion of a national or even regional media is deader than network news. Everything will be hyper-personalized.

1. But there is a difference and we need News that captures and promotes that difference. We need News that attempts objectivity or we will keep going down the path of polarisation. 2. A core reason people want to be informed is to show others that they are informed. This doesn’t work without Shared News.

The news could be much more objective (I believe any reasonable person would say what you do is), but I think most people really just want their hyper emotional lizard brain opinions to be validated so there is little market for “Truth”
