I think it's a return to romanticism that is next -- departure from the ennui that being post-postmodernist creates. We have no choice but to return to yearning when the object that which we build our meaning on no longer offers substance. Modernism was a destruction of ornamentation of thought and design, and post-modernism was a rejection of minimalist as an idea because well who cares how we put it together man

I think of romanticism as the same as modernism because it was the rejection of rationalism and leaned into irrationalism. I think the nihilism you mentioned is the outcome of the postmodernism’s critique of the modernism’s search for ground truth. Is it correct to say that tension I mentioned is because we are caught in between the search for meaning and the denial of its existence.
