Supai: in the Arizona backcountry. Red rocks, waterfalls and a population of a few hundred people. It's hard to imagine, but in the middle of the Grand Canyon, where tourists flock and Pepsi commercials are filmed, is Supai, the isolated center of the Havasupai Indian Reservation. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has called Supai “the most remote community” of the contiguous states. It's accessible by mule, other ungulates or helicopter. Mail? That, too, is delivered by mules.
