There are about 40,000 people living on the island of Socotra. There are two roads, but there is no public transportation.
The fauna and flora of Socotra are unique, it is even called a botanical paradise. More than a third of local plant species are found nowhere else, that is why in 2008 this place was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
