On vacationing with the family: We’re in Portland at the Embassy Suites, a 4-star hotel. I have, admittedly, spoiled my family when it comes to going on vacation. See exhibit A below to illustrate my point. Marble-wrapped columns and a “postcard station” in the lobby where you can write “Wish You Were Here” sweet nothings to your friends back home. The pool and the rec room are amazing. The complimentary breakfast has an omelet station where they are made-to-order. While it is an older hotel, it’s well-appointed and resplendent. Yet, my family is complaining (mockingly but still) about how there are only two adjoining rooms in our suite and that we had to call the front desk for more towels. It’s almost too luxurious so their complaints are falling on deaf ears as they’re a mockery of the many trappings and accoutrements surrounding us. My wife said it’s 5-star or nothing next time. I’m almost sure she was joking. 😳
