Some of you may know that my mom passed. It’s been more than 4 years now. She had a will from 1986 and that’s it. She wanted to create a trust, but never got around to it. So, the family got together and elected me as the administrator of her estate. It’s been a very long and winding road. I finally got her home sold last year. She had assets in a different trust where she was the last successor trustee. So not only did I have to petition the courts to become administrator of her estate, I also had to petition to become temporary successor trustee on this trust. For both the estate and the trust, I had to take out separate bonds, report all of my assets, and basically enter into contracts to say that I will act in the best interests of both the estate and the trust and all of their respective beneficiaries or risk personal liability and court action against me if I do not. I’m acting as fiduciary for both entities. I promised the family I’d do this, but the burden weighs heavily. @kazani
