Systemic issues are exceptionally challenging to address because they are well, systemic. In Wayseeker’s cast below, we see Dr. Oz’s concerns about expectant mothers in rural areas not getting sufficient health care - and how this is some shocking news.
It’s about as new as the socio-economic tiers are in America. Throwing money at the problem won’t hurt, but it needs to be part of an ongoing comprehensive effort. Why are rural areas depressed? Why are some adults working entry level jobs their whole lives? Why did corporate America need to address DEI in the first place? Why Rodney King? Why was Ahmaud Arbery killed? Why did the Black Lives Matter movement gain so much momentum? And how do we live in such a world that allows these atrocities and grotesqueries to happen over and over? I cannot reconcile this and brood over how we collectively will ever overcome our ocean-wide schisms as human beings.
