My mom was one of the smartest people I know. She passed some time ago. School always came very easily for her. She scored a 1597 on her SAT. She received her degrees from prestigious universities, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, and got her doctorate in Psychology. Her primary focus was on abused children and mothers.
When my siblings and I were growing up, the dolls we’d had were anatomically correct so they could be used in her practice to help children and their moms through their trauma. It helped the little kids to communicate where they were touched. Most were low income and couldn’t afford the sessions. My mom helped them anyway in many untold acts of altruism.
I was a teenager at the time and was horrified at how young the boys and girls were. Of the seemingly countless disturbing things in this world, sexual abuse of children has got to rank up there as some of the most heinous acts a human can do to another human.
