Why I’m Impressed: I’ve been on here for (a little under) 1 week and have been able to meet some of the brightest minds / genuine people of web3. The engagement compared to X isn’t even close. I’ve been on X since Sept ’24, tried networking, engaging, putting effort into posts… and it’s been tough. on FC, you actually meet people, which is what I thought the point of social media was.

What’s Different: Here you're able to have real convos with builders and thought leaders. Some through comments, others through DMs. People here look to engage. It doesn’t matter if you’ve got 50 followers or 50k. If your engaged with good thoughts, people respond, regardless of your following.

What's Different Pt. 2: There’s little ego, and healthy debate (most of the time). A lot of helpful ppl (like @mightymoss who took the time to walk me through $DEGEN). Just people being busy and getting back when they can. On X, it seems like everyone is chasing clicks and rage baiting.

Personal Use: on FC it seems like people share stuff they actually care about. I like photography & travel (same with a ton of people here) and it's appreciated both ways. I’m here to meet interesting people building cool stuff or who are just good humans. There seems to be more of that here than anywhere else.

Compared to X: Comparing it is tired and unfair, but it’s the only thing we can compare it to. Right now FC is a town hall for Web3 creatives and devs, but long-term its possibly reshaping how we connect globally. txns, (financial, social, creative) are smoother here. The idea of rewards is great, but the real genius is making it seamless. transacting value instantly on a social platform should’ve happened awhile ago, I just think FC has figured a lot of the hard stuff out first / best.

Room for Improvement: It's not perfect nor should it be. Household social media apps have been at it for 15+ years. There's a learning curve. Mini-apps/frames/fapps (lmao) are still early. Wallet connections can be clunky across mobile/desktop. AI bots sometimes bug out. But none of this is (nor should be) a deal-breaker to on-board or have others join. We’re still early & the team seems to always be improving.

Looking Ahead: Normies I’ve are interested in FC, but intimidated (and lazy). When they hear, “wait… if people like your posts, you earn?” they get it. We just need to remove friction and make it grandma-proof. Hot take: Farcaster could become the on-ramp to Web3. Not just for crypto natives, but for everyone.
