Thinking back to $DEGEN tipping era The way to monetize your ‘content’ was being on here 24/7, getting an allowance, and reply-guying for tips. Some people paid their rent! But as was stated many times, the actual content on here wasn’t great most of the time, it was just memes and slogans mostly. Deeper thoughts and content were not likely rewarded. “Follow back …” and “Tip4Tip” were the farming strategies. If you look at X now, “Subscribe” is the main monetization mechanism. Substack is a “Subscriber” model where many content creators (writers) can pay rent and beyond. In this model, you basically look forward to every post they make and seek to filter out the noise of bots, spam, etc by having that content pushed to you. Thus I think a new tipping and/or rewards era should be built around a “Subscribe” model. People should be able to try to build a subscriber base and then farcaster or a related entity should incentivize those ‘creators.’ Reward depth over volume.
